The Role of Weighbridge Operator/Administrator

We are looking to recruit an experienced and professional Weighbridge Operator/Administrator based at our Portsmouth Recycling Centre, who has the skills and competencies to successfully control all vehicle movements over the weighbridge and weigh the vehicles on and off the weighbridge.

The role of Weighbridge Operator/Administrator involves the following main key tasks:

• Providing a high level of customer service whilst interfacing with L&S drivers/third party drivers and processing their paperwork and taking payment where necessary
• Liaising and communicating with L&S drivers throughout the working day, helping to resolve any driver problems and queries as they arise, as well as relaying information from the office to the drivers regarding any issues
• Answering the site telephone and dealing with any customer queries/enquiries
• Advising customers clearly and concisely of permitted waste types and hazardous wastes
• Assisting the accounts department with any queries
• Processing end of month reports for the Operations Manager
• Assisting the Operations Manager on a day-to-day basis and with any specific task or project
• Checking customer waste carrier licences and maintaining the register
• Assisting in resolving customer complaints
• Assisting in ensuring compliance with all current and impending legislation
• General office administration and supporting other members of the team
• Being a key holder for the site and opening and closing the site and ensuring the alarm system is activated and deactivated accordingly
• Being fully conversant with the site licence, working plan, and operational requirements of each site
• Ensuring you have a good operational and geographical knowledge of the recycling centre’s operating area
• Responsible for the office/site function in the absence of a Site Manager.

• Good organisation and IT skills with the ability to use own initiative.
• Very good attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information.
• Good geographical knowledge of the operational area.
• Reliable, flexible, adaptable, hardworking and conscientious.
• Ability to remain calm and patient when under pressure.
• Experience of or ability to work within a busy and fast-paced environment.

Reward

• Salary £27,856.71 pa.
• 25 days holiday which increases to 27 after 5 years service, and 30 after 10 years service.

Hours

Working hours are 9.5 hours each day, plus a half an hour unpaid lunch break, between 6.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday (usually 6.00 am to 4.00 pm and 8.00 am to 6.00 pm on a rota basis), and Saturday mornings from 6.00 am to 12.30 pm on a rota basis.
