Roll up Roll up… L&S Waste helps to bring the circus to town!
Thanks to the support of L&S Waste and other local sponsors, Circus Starr is staging two free Big Top circus shows in Portsmouth and Southampton.
An audience of more than 1,000 local children and their carers, who are often excluded from these kinds of events because of their needs and circumstances, will be invited to attend.
This 30 year old social enterprise offers all the things you would expect of the traditional Big Top spectacle – energetic acrobats, daring aerialists and a very mischievous clown – but it’s the audience that sets their events apart.
Thanks to the support of L&S Waste, who is providing the waste collection services for the events free of charge, and other generous businesses in the local community, families who might otherwise struggle to visit this kind of event will experience the joy and magic of the spectacular live performance.
Director of Circus Starr, Michelle Crossley, said: “The barriers families face to accessing creative and cultural activities are many and varied. Some families simply can’t afford to visit or have a child with a disability or life-limiting illness whose needs aren’t being met elsewhere.
“The atmosphere in our Big Top is warm, friendly and extremely relaxed. Children are encouraged to be themselves – shout out, move around, dance or take time out if they need to.”
“We are so very grateful to L&S Waste for their support in helping making this event possible. It means so much to these children and their carers to share quality time together, make memories and restore a belief in a world where anything is possible!”
L&S Managing Director, Mick Balch, said: “Through our L&S in the Community charity fund we are continuing to support a number of events taking place across our region. Its not every day the circus comes to town so it’s a little bit different to the norm. Circus Starr is an excellent charity and one which we are delighted to support.”
