L&S Waste Management has achieved PAS 402 Accreditation L&S Waste Management

L&S Waste Management has successfully achieved PAS 402 accreditation, reinforcing its commitment to the highest standards of waste management compliance, transparency, and environmental responsibility.

PAS 402 is the British Standard that sets out requirements for the classification and reporting of waste materials at Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). Developed by the British Standards Institution (BSI), the standard is designed to improve the quality and consistency of recovered materials, ensuring greater accuracy in how waste is sorted, processed, and reported.

The accreditation was achieved in association with Green Compass, who provided specialist guidance and independent support throughout the process, helping ensure full alignment with the PAS 402 framework. For customers, this accreditation provides added confidence that waste is being handled responsibly, in line with recognised best practice and regulatory requirements.

Raising the Bar on Compliance

The accreditation process was led internally by L&S’ Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager, Jackson Brown, who worked closely with operational teams to review systems, documentation, and reporting procedures, alongside Green Compass’ advisory input.

Jackson said:

“Achieving PAS 402 is a significant milestone for L&S. It demonstrates the strength of our internal processes and our commitment to doing things properly. Waste reporting and material classification must be accurate, consistent, and transparent, not just to meet legislation, but to give our customers confidence in how their waste is managed.

Working with Green Compass has been invaluable in ensuring our systems meet the required standard and reflect industry best practice. This accreditation reflects the hard work of the whole team and our ongoing focus on continual improvement.”

The process involved a detailed audit of waste sampling methods, reporting accuracy, quality control procedures, and data management systems to ensure full compliance with the PAS 402 standard.

What PAS 402 Means for Customers

For businesses working in construction, demolition, manufacturing, and commercial sectors, PAS 402 provides:

  • – Greater transparency in waste reporting
  • – Improved data accuracy for sustainability reporting
  • – Confidence in material classification
  • – Alignment with evolving environmental legislation

As waste regulations continue to tighten and reporting requirements become more robust, independent accreditation offers reassurance that L&S remains ahead of the curve.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

PAS 402 adds to L&S’ growing portfolio of compliance and quality standards, such as CLOCS and FORS, and supports its wider sustainability strategy. It underlines the company’s ongoing investment in systems, people, and processes to deliver professional, reliable, and environmentally responsible waste management services across the South of England.

For customers, it is further evidence that L&S is not just a waste contractor, but a trusted partner committed to raising standards across the industry.
