Fly-tipping is on the rise and it’s hurting our communities, landowners and environment

As Christmas approaches, L&S Waste Management is embracing the true spirit of the season by giving back to the local community. This year the company has chosen to make a significant donation to The Rowans Hospice, a local charity that provides vital care and support to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
The Rowans Hospice, based in Hampshire, has been a beacon of hope for many, offering compassionate care and support during some of life’s most challenging moments. However, like many charities, they have faced financial difficulties in recent years, making contributions from local communities and businesses even more critical.
Managing Director of L&S Waste Management, Mick Balch, explained the decision: “At L&S Waste, we believe in supporting our community, not just through the services we provide but by giving back in meaningful ways. The Rowans Hospice is an incredible organisation that touches the lives of so many, and we wanted to use this season of giving to help ensure they can continue their vital work. We hope our donation can make a real difference for both the charity and the people they care for.”
L&S Waste Management has a proud history of supporting charitable initiatives around the festive period. In recent years, the company has contributed to Pompey in the Community's Christmas lunch for the homeless, provided food parcels for The Salvation Army, and delivered gifts to local children's charity, The Rainbow Centre. These efforts highlight L&S Waste’s ongoing commitment to spreading joy and supporting those in need during the festive season.
By choosing to support The Rowans Hospice, the company hopes to encourage others in the community to join them in backing the charity’s invaluable efforts.
Head of Fundraising and Marketing for The Rowans Hospice, Yvonne Penny-Filewood, said: “We are deeply touched by L&S Waste Management’s generous donation. Every contribution helps us to continue providing the compassionate care our patients and their families rely on. This support is particularly meaningful during these challenging times, and we are truly grateful.”
This heartfelt initiative by L&S Waste Management reflects the true meaning of Christmas – bringing communities together to support those in need.

Perhaps more impressive than that is her unique party piece, which involves taking matchsticks out of the box and lighting them with her toes!
