L&S Waste Management is delighted to have won the Community Contribution Award at the 2019 Portsmouth Business Excellence Awards. This is the first time that L&S has entered the awards, so the team is particularly pleased to have come away in top spot.
Competition for the award was extremely strong with many other deserving local businesses in the running. However, following a strict judging and interview process, overseen by event sponsors BAE Systems and Trethowans Solicitors, judges were impressed by the sheer number of charitable events and activities undertaken by L&S throughout the year.
Judges were particularly impressed with the new L&S in the Community scheme – a £10,000 funding initiative, which provides much needed help and support to local people and charity organisations. Over the past 12 months L&S has supported events including a homeless lunch in association with Portsmouth Football Club, a Road Safety initiative with local schools, an SOS style garden make over for a local family, and has even helped to bring the circus to town!
L&S Waste Management Managing Director, Mick Balch said: “We are immensely proud to have won this award. It’s the first time we have ever asked anyone to judge us and it’s really quite humbling considering we were up against many others deserving of recognition. This award belongs to the whole L&S team and those that have supported us.”
