Oxfordshire Hit by One of the UK’s Worst Fly-Tipping Incidents

In what’s being described as one of the worst illegal dumps in UK history, hundreds of tonnes of waste have been dumped in a field near Kidlington, between the A34 and the River Cherwell. The mountain of waste is over 150m long, 10m wide, and 10–12m high, containing a mix of domestic, commercial, and construction debris. The site sits on a floodplain, prompting fears of river contamination. A major criminal investigation is underway by the Environment Agency.

This case is shocking! Not just for its scale, but for the boldness of dumping on sensitive land. It’s a national wake-up call. Fly-tipping on this scale damages trust in the waste sector. For our clients, it reinforces the importance of choosing a fully licensed, transparent operator who can prove where their waste ends up.
