VP safety day

L&S Waste is delighted to have supported a Road Safety Day, organised by VolkerFitzpatrick at Portsmouth Technology Park, QinetiQ.

The aim of the event was to raise awareness among vulnerable road users, in particular cyclists, of the potential dangers faced on the roads.

L&S provided vehicles and drivers, who were on hand to offer advice to the cyclists in attendance as to what they can do to improve road safety, such as avoiding lorry blind spots and understanding stopping distances. Visitors and staff were invited to sit in the cab to gain more of an understanding about the drivers’ perspective and views of the road.

Senior Site Manager at VolkerFitzpatrick, Svet Ignatov, said: “I would like to thank L&S Waste for organising and taking part of our Site Safety day. The L&S team were fantastic, and were able to confidently answer all question that the QinetiQ and VolkerFitzpatrick staff threw at them on the day. It was excellent to see the latest technologies used in the L&S vehicles designed to prevent or minimise potential harm to drivers and other road users.

This ensures that our vehicles not only adhere to the highest safety levels, but our drivers are comprehensively trained to meet the highest industry standards.”
