    FAQs

Can businesses use L&S Waste recycling sites directly?

Yes, businesses can use L&S Waste recycling facilities for waste disposal, subject to the type of waste and site requirements. This is particularly useful for contractors and companies that generate their own waste and need a reliable disposal solution. Access arrangements can vary depending on the site and material type, so it's best to check in advance. L&S Waste can advise on the most suitable option for your needs.

How does recycling help reduce landfill and environmental impact?

Recycling reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill and helps conserve natural resources. By processing materials such as concrete, soil and metal for reuse, fewer raw materials need to be extracted, which reduces environmental impact. It also lowers emissions associated with waste disposal and material production. L&S Waste supports these principles by maximising recycling across its operations. 8. Can L&S Waste provide documentation for waste disposal and recycling? Yes, L&S Waste can provide the necessary documentation to confirm that waste has been handled and processed correctly. This includes waste transfer notes and other compliance documentation required for businesses. Having this documentation is important for demonstrating legal compliance and meeting environmental responsibilities. It also provides transparency about how waste is managed after collection.

What industries benefit from using L&S Waste recycling services?

A wide range of industries benefit from L&S Waste recycling services, including construction, demolition, landscaping, manufacturing and commercial operations. These sectors often generate large volumes of waste that can be recycled or reused, helping to reduce costs and improve sustainability performance. L&S Waste supports both one-off projects and ongoing waste management requirements.

Why choose L&S Waste for recycling and waste processing?

L&S Waste offers a fully integrated waste management and recycling service, with its own facilities and processing capabilities. This means waste can be collected, sorted and recycled within a single, controlled system, improving efficiency and accountability. Customers benefit from reliable service, strong environmental performance and full compliance with regulations. Choosing L&S Waste provides confidence that waste is being managed responsibly from collection through to final processing.

What happens to waste once it is collected by L&S Waste?

Once waste is collected, it is transported to one of L&S Waste's recycling facilities where it is sorted and processed. At these sites, materials such as wood, metal, soil, hardcore and plastics are separated for recycling or reuse wherever possible. The aim is to recover as much value from the waste as possible and minimise the amount sent to landfill. This process ensures that waste is handled responsibly and in line with environmental regulations.

How much of the waste collected is recycled?

L&S Waste is committed to maximising recycling rates and reducing landfill wherever possible. A significant proportion of the waste collected is processed and reused, particularly construction and demolition materials such as concrete, brick and soil, which can be turned into recycled aggregates. While exact recycling rates can vary depending on the type of waste, the focus is always on diverting as much material as possible away from landfill.

What types of materials can be recycled?

A wide range of materials can be recycled at L&S Waste recycling sites, including: - Concrete, bricks and hardcore - Soil and inert materials - Wood and timber - Metals - Certain plastics These materials are sorted and processed to ensure they can be reused in construction or other applications, supporting a more circular approach to waste management.

What are recycled aggregates and how are they produced?

Recycled aggregates are materials produced from processed construction and demolition waste, such as crushed concrete and brick. At L&S Waste recycling facilities, this waste is sorted, crushed and graded to create usable materials for construction projects. These recycled aggregates can then be used as sub-base, fill material or in other applications. They provide a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to primary aggregates.

Are L&S Waste recycling sites licensed and regulated?

Yes, L&S Waste operates fully licensed recycling facilities and complies with all relevant environmental regulations. This ensures that waste is handled, processed and disposed of in a safe and legally compliant manner.
